Morning Session - 9AM to 12Noon Central Time
Maximizing Social Security Benefits and Minimizing Medicare Premiums"
Presented by: Mary Beth Franklin, CFP

The old analogy of the three-legged stool of retirement security—pensions, personal savings and Social Security--needs an update. With many Americans living 30 years or more in retirement, financial advisers will need to help their clients pull every possible lever to create retirement income and minimize Medicare premiums to meet the goals of their retirement years. This three hour course will dive deep into social security and Medicare rules and regulations to teach financial planning professionals (insurance providers, accountants, attorneys and investment advisors) to guide their clients into retirement.

This program offers 3 hours of credit for NE and IA Life Insurance, CLE, CPE, CFP and PACE (pending approvals).

Afternoon Session - 1PM to 4PM Central Time
"The Healthsouth Story - A Case of Ethical Malpractice"
Presented by: Aaron Beam

Mr. Beam was the first CFO at Healthsouth Corp., and as a co-founder witnessed first-hand the series of accounting, stock manipulation and leadership failures that led Healthsouth to the $2B securities fraud scandal and ultimate prosecutions of Richard Scrushy. He relates to students and professionals the heights of success, followed by the unethical and illegal mistakes that led to his professional downfall. Serving three months in federal prison for his role in approving fraudulent quarterly numbers in 1996 and losing his CPA credentials, led Mr. Beam to his current speaking career; trying to make a positive difference by educating others about the pitfalls of unethical business practices. Through his Ethics First message he identifies early warning signs, influences and the bad choices he and others made at Healthsouth, allowing the audience to apply what they learn to their business practices and the organization's culture and environment.

This program offers 3 hours of Ethics credit for NE and IA Insurance, CLE, CPE, and 1.5 hours of regular CFP (pending approvals).
